The demand for auto insurance increased by 30% in May this year when compared to the same month in 2021. This is what the Neurotech Insurance Demand Index (INDS) reveals. The indicator measures the behavior and volume of queries on the Neurotech platform on a monthly basis.

In May, the INDS highlighted the states of Paraná (32.91%), Rio Grande do Sul (30.77%) and São Paulo (24.47%), among the top three in the ranking. They were followed by Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais, with increases of 22.55% and 17.86%, respectively.

In relation to April this year, the growth of the national indicator was 18.79%. The movement was driven by the resumption of sales of new vehicles, which had the best result of the year according to Fenabrave. In May, the sale of new vehicles rose 27.1% in comparison with April, among passenger cars, light utility vehicles, trucks and buses.

With a volume close to that of May 2021, which registered a slight drop of 0.8%, the association considered last month’s result surprising, although in the accumulated since the first day of the year sales show a drop of 17%, with 739 .9 thousand units licensed in the first five months of the year.

Daniel Gusson, Commercial Superintendent of Insurance at Neurotech, believes that one of the reasons for the demand for auto insurance, in addition to the search for better price conditions and the increase in sales of new vehicles, is the resumption of circulation at levels equal to those previously to the pandemic.
