IRB points high in insurance billings for the sixth straight month

Bulletin IRB + Mercado, which offers information based on public data updated by Susep, shows that the growth in premiums issued was 10% in November 2020 The insurance market recorded an increase in revenues (premiums written) for the sixth consecutive month. In November 2020, growth was 10% over the same period in 2019, totaling around R $ 10.5 billion. This is what the IRB + Mercado Bulletin points out, a report released by IRB + Inteligência, the IRB Brasil RE data intelligence service. The accumulated growth from January to November 2020 closed at 4.9%, totaling R $ 112.2 billion in premiums written in insurance. Responsible for 37% of the total sales of the market, the Life insurance segment had a positive variation of 4.2% in the comparison between the accumulated of 2020 and 2019: increase of R $ 1.6 billion. In November alone, the turnover of this branch reached R $ 4 billion. The index that measures the proportion between the expenses with claims incurred and the billing allocated in the month of November 2020 showed an increase of 4.3 percentage points in comparison with November 2019. However, in the accumulated result for the year, according to the Bulletin, the index loss ratio improved with a decrease of 1.6 percentage points. “November was another exceptional month for the insurance market, in which revenues grew 10%, confirming the trend of macroeconomic improvement in the country”, evaluates the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of IRB Brasil RE, Antonio Cassio dos Santos.
