Fernando Serrabona, CEO of the Mapfre Group, highlighted, over breakfast with journalists, the great opportunity that Brazil represents for the company, since the Brazilian operation is the group’s second largest. “Despite the economic and political changes, Brazil still has a lot of room for growth in life portfolios, for example. If we take credit life and group insurance out of the account, we realize that very few people have some kind of protection”.
Among Mapfre’s goals for the future is to nearly double the number of partner brokers, reaching 34,000 professionals in three years. Felipe Nascimento, CEO of Mapfre Seguros, points out that after undergoing a transformation process to achieve technical balance, the insurance company now intends to be more commercially aggressive.
To this end, the insurance company is conducting a roadshow to bring new partners to its base. On the other hand, Mapfre is investing in technology to serve its auto insurance customer base. “In our innovation workshop we already have projects that use artificial intelligence. One of them is about estimating damages by images for car insurance. The impact on the level of customer satisfaction is great, but first it is being tested and then scaled up”, he adds.
The insurance company is also investing in a microinsurance project, to serve micro-entrepreneurs in São Paulo communities. For now, the project is still in the design phase, for him it will be a way to stimulate the circular economy of the region served, through the provision of services by local people.
